Richard Abram Kirkland passed away Dec. 5, 2016, at the age of 60. He was born April 23, 1956, in St. George, Utah, to Steven E. and Mary Evelyn Temples Kirkland.

Richard was born in St. George where he was raised and educated.

Richard was a kind, gentle and giving soul. He has always helped his fellow man with whatever was needed. He was the most favorite uncle, dearly revered by his family. He was truly an unconditional selfless and loving husband, father and grandfather. Also, he enjoyed hiking, camping and gardening with his children, nieces and nephews. Richard was an exceptional cook. He has managed St. Helens Restaurant for many years in Washington.

Richard graciously raised all his children with love and affection.

He is survived by his sons Danny Oney, Bullhead, Arizona, and Mike Kirkland, Washington State; daughters Billie Jo Lange, Salt Lake City; Shaundra Lange, St. George; and Donna (Tyler) Call, McCammon, ID; 12 grandchildren; wife, Thresa Young (separated); 11 brothers: Steven, Benjamin, Linton, Hylan, John, David, Kevin, Kirk, Danny, James and Ephraim; 4 sisters: Evelyn, Fenella, Linda and Marvel. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marty Oney; parents, Steven and Mary Evelyn and Sylvia; and sisters Mary Ruth Cooper and Trudy Westwood.

Funeral services

  • Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel, 110 S. Bluff, St. George, Utah.
  • There will be a viewing prior to services from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
  • Interment will take place in the Kirkland Family Cemetery, Washington, Utah.
