(June 1, 1930 – December 22, 2014)
Shirley June Greene, 84, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, in Draper, Utah. She was born June 1, 1930, in Loveland, Colorado. Shirley is the daughter of Paul F. and Grace Barnes and was raised with her two sisters. She met the love of her life Charles (Chuck) Greene and they married Dec. 1, 1949. Their many years of marriage resulted in three children, six grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Shirley and Chuck lived in several different locations due to Chuck’s Employment with the Forest Service. They lived in Loveland, Colorado, Syma Washington, Ogden and Richfield, Utah, Redding and Oroville, California, and St. George, Utah. Shirley worked many years at J.C. Penny in Richfield and Oroville. She also operated her own Craft and Yarn Store in Oroville, California, for a time.
Shirley’s 1st love was crocheting; she was an expert and made some lovely items for family and friends. She also was a fantastic seamstress and knitter.
Shirley was very active in the communities they lived in including PTA Vice President, Eastern Stars serving as Worthy Matron for Richfield Lodge and Grand Ester for the Grand Lodge of Utah. Later in life they enjoyed Square Dancing, their winters in Yuma, Arizona, and traveling. Shirley’s favorite trip was the 50th anniversary to Hawaii.
Shirley is survived by son, Ronald N Greene (JoAnn) and daughter, Carl Ann Kelley (Robert); sister-in-law, Kathryn Parmley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Chuck) Greene; son, Daniel L. Greene; parents; and two sisters, Marjorie and Gladys.
A special thanks to Legacy House of Taylorsville for their many years of love and caring. A very special thanks to all her aides and management at Beehive Home of Draper. Shirley enjoyed love, teasing and playing from everyone there immensely.
