Jacqulyn Black Frandsen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on March 2, 2023, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 91.
Jacqulyn was born on July 7, 1931, in Ogden, Utah, to Henry Jay Black and Elizabeth Lydia Webb. She was one of seven children. Jacqulyn attended East High School in Salt Lake City and served an LDS mission in Missouri.
On June 26, 1959, Jacqulyn married Dean LaRay Frandsen, and together they raised four children in Huntington Beach, California. Jacqulyn was a devoted mother who loved her family deeply and was always there to offer support and encouragement.
After retiring, Jacqulyn and Dean moved to St. George, Utah, in 1999. Jacqulyn loved to decorate and care for her home and was always changing out decorations for each holiday. She loved to host guests and insisted on feeding all her entered her door. She had a talent for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made all who entered feel welcome and loved.
Jacqulyn’s faith was a central part of her life. She cherished her church membership and was always willing to serve in The Church in any capacity. She was also a talented cook and seamstress and loved to share her talent.
Jacqulyn is survived by her children Deanna (Dean) Sonnenberg of Camarillo, California, Brent L. Frandsen of Lake Forest, California, Jeffrey J. Frandsen of Sandy, Utah, and Jocelyn (Kristopher) Brodowski of Yorba Linda, California; her grandchildren Nathan Sonnenberg, Caitlin Galey, Ryan Sonnenberg, Gregor Sonnenberg, Bart Frandsen, Brad Frandsen, Spencer Frandsen, Marissa Frandsen, Alexandra Frandsen, Aspen Frandsen, Summer Ashton, Evan Brodowski, Jackson Brodowski and Katie Brodowski; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dean LaRay Frandsen, parents Henry Jay Black and Elizabeth Lydia Webb Black and siblings Dale Black, Pauline Cannon, Beatrice Dent, Marjorie Smith, Joan Hancock and twin sister Kathryn Orton.
A graveside service and interment will be held on Friday, March 10, at 11:30 a.m., at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah. There will be a visitation prior to the graveside services from 10-11 a.m., at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, Utah.
