On July 1, 1942, a baby girl was born in Cedar City, Utah. Janette Gordon Farnsworth was the daughter and fourth child of Charles Vernon “Buck” Gordon and Lorna Berniece Hopkins Gordon. On June 25, 2022, she went home to be with them again, just one week shy of her 80th birthday.
She was raised in Cedar City, Utah, where she attended area schools including a Secretarial Certificate program at SUSC (Now SUU).
On July 7, 1962, (because she promised her mother she would wait until she was 20), she married Gordon Lavar Farnsworth in Cedar City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. They lived in Salt Lake City for two years before moving back home to her beloved Cedar City.
They raised four children: Melody Farnsworth, Tammie (David) Chapman, Wade (Gina) Farnsworth and Shane (Aurienne) Farnsworth. Their house was also home to a wide variety of friends and spare kids. Particularly Paul Rowland Morton, currently residing in Trinidad/Tobago. They lived in Emery County, Utah, Rockland, Soda Springs, Idaho, and Washington, Utah. For the last 15 years, Janette has been living back in Cedar City with family.
Janette retired from IHC, Dixie Regional Medical Center after 20 years there. She made many lifelong friends and always had stories to tell. She loved books, CSI (all of them), NCIS (all of them) and music from the 1940s all the way up to Garth Brooks. She enjoyed picnics, camping, fishing trips and cooking her famous chicken noodle soup for family gatherings. Beaches and mountains were her absolute favorite vacation destinations, and she visited them as often as she could.
Janette had the kindest, biggest heart and the shiniest soul of anyone you would ever hope to meet, and she showed us all how to give, how to show compassion, how to love and how to stick tough together.
She loved all of her family so very much.
Janette was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lee and his wife, several in-laws and her cherished husband.
She is survived by her children, seven granddaughters: Mandy, Brittany, Stacie, Tiffany, Hailey, Chelsie and Pheobe, as well as 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Berl (Sharlene) Gordon, Richard (Cristal) Gordon and two sisters Jackie (Bob-deceased) Beatty and Lorna (Steven-deceased) Gower.
