Set. 14, 1943-Feb. 25, 2022

Our loving, kind and generous Sheila Dee Payne of Saint George was taken from this world on Feb. 25, 2022. Sheila was born on September 14, 1943, in Coalville to Maxine Wilde and Douglas Wallace Clark.

Sheila was the mother to five beautiful children, and they were always her most precious gift. She loved supporting her children in everything they were involved in. Sheila was a busy single mom who held down a full-time job while also raising a home full of children. She made many lifelong friends while working at Salina Medical Clinic, Wheeler Machinery, SUFCO Mine.

Sheila met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Maurice Payne, on Sept. 8, 1989. They loved traveling, golfing and old cars. However, they were happiest when they were alone together on their back patio. They loved watching the sunset together while having a drink, talking about their day and listening to the oldies station on the radio.

Sheila enjoyed cooking and especially enjoyed cooking for others. It made her day when someone she loved would request she make a special meal for them. Sheila made friends everywhere she went. She had an incredible gift of making people feel loved and valued. Sheila was always the life of the party and there was never a dull moment when she was around. She loved playing games and quilting with her friends, but Sheila was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family.

Sheila is survived by her brother, Sam (Jennifer) Clark; children Natalie (Michael Wade) Hansen, Stacie (Kevin) Rasmussen, Mike (Kim) Hansen, Melissa (Chance) Autrey; stepchildren Tammie (Michael) Detray, Jammie Walker, Sherri (Donny) Sampson;  12 beautiful grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth Payne, her parents Douglas and Maxine Clark, sister Ann Eldredge and son Jason Hansen.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 12, at the Spilsbury Mortuary 110 S. Bluff Street, St. George. Friends and family may call for visitation 10-11 with the celebration of life to follow.
