Nov. 28, 1936 – Jan. 22, 2019

I guess it was time for me to depart from my earthly sojourn. It has been a fabulous trip. I have loved and been loved by my wonderful family. The choice people I have met along the way have brought me much joy and satisfaction. Thanks to all who have made my life so great. See you all again, but you needn’t hurry for my sake. I will be patiently waiting. I will miss you, but will be so happy to be reunited with my dear husband, Ralph, my parents and all the dear ones who have gone on ahead of me.

St. George, Utah, resident Elva Carol Musig Christian, 82, passed away Jan. 22, 2019, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 28, 1936 in Monroe, Utah, to William DeMill and Sylvia Delight Collings Musig. She married her sweetheart Ralph Alonzo Christian Aug. 1, 1958.

She was raised in the picturesque little green valley at the base of Monroe Mountain, where she spent hours swimming in the family-owned hot springs called “The Plunge.” With her family, they spent the summers camping and picnicking in the nearby national parks and on Monroe Mountain. This is where she gained a love of nature.

Just before her sophomore year, she and her family moved to St. George. It was there that she met her sweetheart Ralph while participating in the high school plays. They were sealed in the St. George Temple. They raised their six children in the homes Ralph built in the St. George area.

She enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, going bird-watching in the Washington Fields and attending the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, of which she was a member for over 60 years. She served in various callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with many hours of service playing the organ and piano.

She is survived by her son David Christian (Sharla) of Logan, Utah; daughters Carol Wood (Conn) of Washington, Utah, Marie Jones (Aaron) of Monroe, Utah, Marilyn Armstrong (Brian) of St. George, Utah, Deanna Steele (Michael) of Syracuse, Utah, and Colleen Stevens (the late Kevin) of Enoch, Utah; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and her sister Merial Hawkins of Bountiful, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Alonzo Christian, her sisters Marjorie, Ruth and Viola, and brother Charles.
