Jerry LockwoodNov. 5, 1932 — Aug. 22, 2016

Jerry Wayne Lockwood, 83, passed away Monday, Aug. 22. He was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Ringling, Oklahoma, to Walter Hugh and Clorine Morris Lockwood. Jerry attended Corona High School, where he graduated in 1951. He and his surviving wife, Geraldine Massey Lockwood, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2016. They were married in Salome, Arizona, and had their marriage sealed in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1963.

Jerry joined the LDS church at the age of 19. He had a strong testimony and loved serving the Lord. He worked in the St. George Temple baptistery for several years after moving here from Arizona.

He had many types of jobs over the years, from the oil fields in Oklahoma to foreman at Rohr Aircraft in Riverside, California. He loved serving the public and pursued that passion as a Riverside City Police Officer and later as a California Highway Patrolman. He spent many years pursuing a college education, always as a part-time student, and eventually received a master’s degree in Criminal Justice through the California State University system.

After retiring from the CHP, he and his wife moved to Prescott, Arizona, and later moved on to St.  George, where they built a house and settled in.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Geraldine, of St. George; their three children: Cheryl Patton (David), Curtis Lockwood (Ony) and Kristin Schwiermann (David), all living in St. George; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Zion’s Way Home Health & Hospice for their kind care of our beloved husband, father and grandfather.
