Jeannette Farthing Mikesell of St. George, Utah, passed away on Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at the age of 83. Jeannette was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Lander, Wyoming, the fourth of the six daughters of Harold Edward Farthing and Artie Welling. She married Jerald Louis Mikesell of Soda Springs, Idaho, on March 7, 1958, in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Jeannette excelled at being a wife and mother to four children while also serving faithfully in her numerous callings at church. She enjoyed making everything nice including meals, homes, clothes and just about whatever else she touched. Jeannette loved to make holidays and birthdays special and memorable for her family.

She was accomplished at the piano, sewing and many needle arts. She had many opportunities to make their houses into homes as she supported Jerald in the military, through school, and in his various career moves across five states, moving approximately 30 times in their 64 years of marriage.

Despite their many moves, Jeannette had a gift of making lifelong friends and was great at remembering names and places. Their home was always open to anyone needing a meal or a place to stay.

Jerald and Jeannette served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the mission office of the Kentucky-Louisville mission. She loved attending the temple and served as an ordinance worker in the Louisville-Kentucky, Bountiful-Utah, and Spokane-Washinton temples.

Jeannette is survived by Jerald, her husband of 64 years, her four children: Harold/Jean Mikesell of Juneau, Alaska, Gordon/Debbie Mikesell of Kelowna, BC Canada, Melita/Myron Welling of Juneau, Alaska and Janine/David Mika of Clifton Park, New York. She is also survived by three sisters: Lucille Mortensen, Paula Anderson, and Penny Race. She and Jerald have 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents and two older sisters: Alice Adams and Donna Gard.

Funeral services for Jeannette will be held on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at 11 a.m., at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, Utah.  A viewing will be held from 10-10:45 a.m., prior to services.
