Kerry Wayne Elite passed away to be with the Lord on July 23, 2022, in Washington, Utah, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on June 03, 1952, in Vallejo, California, to Arthur and Norma Elite and had one elder brother. Kerry attended and graduated from Napa High School where he was a student-athlete. In 1971, at the Yountville Fire station, he met his now wife of 50 years, Ann Elite, and they were married on May 20, 1972.
Kerry and Ann were sealed for all eternity in the Oakland, California, LDS temple on Sept. 2, 1980. They raised five children: Shannon Elite (Cliff) of Panguitch, Utah, Amber Garcia (Chris) of Clovis, California, Sarah Dale (Travis) of Valley Center, California, Evan Elite (Ashley) of Yucaipa, California, and Adam Elite (Cara) of PerrisCalifornia, CA. He has 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Kerry spent 34 years of his life protecting the citizens of California with CALFIRE known then as the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Assignment locations include Sonoma-Lake Napa, Ione Training Academy, Madera Mariposa, Fresno Kings and Southern Region Operations. He retired in January 2004 as the Southern Region operations chief.
Kerry loved to camp, boat and spend time at Disneyland with family. He was very active and held many callings within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was called and worked at the St. George Temple in the baptismal font.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Elite, mother Norma Elite, brother Arthur Elite Jr. and both sets of grandparents.
The Elite family would like to thank all those who were a part of Kerry’s life and who shared many fond memories.
Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Washington Stake Center, 1835 South Washington Fields Road, Washington, Utah.
