On Thursday, April 7, 2022, our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Warren Mark Ziegler passed very peacefully in his home, surrounded by many loving family members.
Warren was born on Dec. 2, 1943, in Orem, Utah, to Merle and Georgia (Tanner) Ziegler. He grew up in Orem, attending various schools and ultimately graduating from Orem High School in 1962. He received a call to serve a mission in Central America where he learned the Spanish language.
Upon returning, he attended Brigham Young University where he met and married his wife Janice Ann (Blake) Ziegler. They were married for time and all eternity in the St George Utah Temple on Dec. 22, 1965. Afterward, Warren enlisted in the military and served 10 years.
Warren is the father of eight children — four sons and four daughters. Five of the children were born during our military service and time away from Utah. The last three sons were born in St. George after their return in 1975.
Warren worked as a truck driver for many years, traveling many miles all over the states. Often, he would take family members so they could visit many of the interesting places he went. He also trained and worked as an electrician. He had a zest for life and fishing. (He was known for taking his fishing pole on the diesel with him, and if possible, his down time while traveling was spent fishing) Warren loved to watch Disney movies while eating ice cream but fell asleep during every movie.
Warren could strike up a conversation with anyone. The first thing he would do is tell his favorite joke of the week. He always gave the best hugs and would help with anything you asked. Warren loved music, he could often be found dancing through the house, conducting the “band” while the music played full blast.
Warren is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Ann (Blake) Ziegler, father Merle Ziegler, mother Georgia (Tanner) Ziegler, sister Dee Lane Mahoney (Vern), a son Jonathan Leslie Ziegler and a granddaughter Stephiney Ann Hughes.
Warren is survived by his siblings George R Ziegler (Diane) of Ivins; Shirley Olsen (Jim) of Overton, Nevada; Lucy Harkins (Kevin) of West Jordan; Charles Ziegler, Orem; his children Carol A. Hughes (Kary) of Washington, Utah, David L Ziegler (Val) of Sandy; Sarah L. Pipkin (Fritz), of Monticello; Amy R. Holloway (Gary), of St George; Melinda M. Aubrey, of Spokane, Washington; Arland L Ziegler, unknown; Mark C. Ziegler (Shanda) of St George.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m., with a viewing prior to services 9-10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 550 E 700 S, St. George.
Interment will take place in Tonaquint Cemetery under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary. Thank you to Zion’s Way Hospice for the special care and attentive service to our father.
