David Amundsen Watkins, 86, Passed away on Jan. 17, 2022. David was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Midway, Utah to Clyde T. Watkins and Florence Amundsen.
Dave went through Scouting and became an Eagle Scout. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States Mission. David married Barbara Wight on April 3, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Dave grew up in Murray and lived in several places in Utah. Dave and Barbara lived in Camarillo, California, for 14 years and from there they were transferred to Flagstaff, Arizona where they lived for 16 years. He worked for IBM working on typewriters, et cetera, for 26-plus years and when he retired, he began making Office and Home furniture.
They sold their home in Flagstaff and moved to Toquerville, Utah, where he continued making furniture. He then began making beautiful jewelry/trinket boxes and sold them at art shows. He retired from the shows and put the boxes in a gift shop plus he sold them online. Then he began making wooden earrings. He didn’t charge for them, he made them for the love of making them, and giving them to others made him happy.
David and Barbara loved going to the temple. They were ordinance workers in the Mesa, Arizona, temple for 1½ years until they moved to Toquerville. In the St. George Temple they worked as ordinance workers for nearly 20 years. He loved the Temple and would go two to four times every week.
David is survived by his wife, Barbara, Toquerville, Utah. Dave is also survived by his 3 children, Robert (Vicky), West Virginia; Alan (Leslie) Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Karen, Chandler, Arizona; 9 Grandchildren, and 19 Great Grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his parents.
